As Salesforce continues to blaze a trail into the future, Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), has been a huge topic of discussion and innovation. I was excited to receive an invitation to attend the Salesforce AI Day in New York on June 12. I didn’t know what to expect, but I had many questions–particularly about security and compliance. Salesforce did not disappoint.

Innovation for an Evolving Landscape

In a world increasingly reliant on AI tools, privacy concerns and data security loom large, Salesforce introduced the Einstein GPT Trust Layer.

Einstein GPT Trust Layer is essentially a suite of tools and frameworks designed to ensure data is protected, the sharing model is respected, and, most importantly, cleaned up after interactions with AI tools. The implication here is that businesses can use AI technology with confidence, safe in the knowledge that compliance issues won’t come back to haunt them.

From an information security perspective, this AI Trust Layer presents a fascinating and crucial new dimension to consider during discussions with companies about future tech deployments.

Salesforce’s presentation highlighted the fears, uncertainties, and doubts (FUD) around AI, along with a demonstration of their solution, was both refreshing and prudent. This approach provided a comforting answer to the usual compliance-related questions that arise with new tech.

Exciting Product Demonstrations and Customer Stories

The event included product demonstrations and customer stories. Salesforce showcased an ambitious integration of Mulesoft, Data Cloud, AI, and Slack here. However, the intent was clear – showing the potential of Salesforce’s impressive suite of services.

Seeing what’s possible with customers such as Formula 1 and Rossignol was compelling.

My only feedback is that I’m hoping a bigger variety of customers will be showcased in the future, both from a size and business model perspective (i.e., more B2B, or backoffice use cases).

Salesforce Launching AI Cloud Starter Pack

Continuing its AI-focused journey, Salesforce announced the launch of its AI Cloud Starter pack, priced at $360K.

This investment may seem steep, but given the potential value a company could derive, it could be worth every penny. It’s a formidable resource requiring significant financial commitment, placing it out of reach for most small to medium businesses (SMBs). However, it’s unclear whether there will be opportunities for unbundling specific elements.

Exhilarating Tour-de-force for AI

In conclusion, Salesforce’s keynote was an exhilarating tour-de-force of their vision for AI. The introduction of the Einstein GPT Trust Layer highlights their commitment to providing businesses with secure, compliant, and ethical AI tools.

While some of the presented solutions may be out of reach for smaller businesses, the message is clear: Salesforce is ushering in a future where AI plays a key role in enterprise strategy. I’m excited to see where Salesforce continues applying AI tech in its stack.
