365 Days of Red Argyle: My 1-Year Work “Argyleversary”

New office.

August 11th, 2015 marked my first day at Red Argyle, and that’s where this journey begins.  Seeing that my initial years of experience with Salesforce and Salesforce-related programs started in the comforts of my house and sweatpants, I really didn’t know what to expect. What would it be like to actually drive to the office and sit at a desk alongside co-workers? How could I continue to improve my skills? What the heck was I going to do? I had already earned my Salesforce Administrator certification earlier that year, plus had two years of Salesforce background and some foundational Java, CSS, and html knowledge. But still, millions of questions and doubt swarmed my thoughts.

Those questions were addressed and answered in ways I couldn’t even imagine. Every week it seemed as if I learned something new. My doubts decreased little by little as different Red Argylians–I’ll talk about them later–guided me through obstacles that I either unknowingly built myself or ran into without any knowledge of how to get out of. They showed me how to come out victorious.

New skills.

I’m human–and I assume that most of you reading this are fellow humans. Therefore, you are quite familiar with the stupid, annoying tendency to second-guess yourself. You doubt yourself in the back of your mind, wondering if you ever really made progress from the person you were a year before. Well I can say with conviction that this year I have made a lot of progress here at Red Argyle. I’ve learned different ways to problem-solve. It might sound weird, but I mastered “Google-foo” (the art of Googling) and finding the answer I need. Code efficiency and planning ahead, which are easier said than done, are also cool skills that I’m still working to become proficient in. Using new tools in our various clients’ Salesforce organizations has re-taught me the idea of having “more than one way to skin a cat” (sorry, cat lovers!) and using what’s at my disposal to quickly fulfill a client’s wishes.

Red Argyle Salesforce Agency - Fun Company Retreat!

New people. Cool people.

It didn’t take too long to realize that Red Argyle has some pretty cool peeps. The working environment is comfortable–to the point that it’s like you’re working with friends. We crack jokes, share funny things in our company group chat, and occasionally work. Red Argylians are always ready to help one another, and, day after day, I come out of our conversations and meetings knowing more than I did before. We guide each other to find answers and teach one another how to do things on our own. Red Argylians work together and grow together, because that’s just the Red Argyle way. Here we laugh. Here we help each other be the best we can be. And here is where I want to stay.

Thanks to everyone at Red Argyle for a great first year! To keep up with the whole team, check out our blog and follow us on Twitter.
